Message:
Grandmaster TK Loh (8th Dan) posted some very valuable comments and advise on our old forum/guestbook. I feel that it would be a waste not to share them again with you, and to new members as well. So I have compiled them and posted here for you to ponder....

Taekwondo practice is more than a hobby. As explained at the seminar 'Do' makes up 75% 0f Taekwondo. Do is about the way or way of life. So what does that mean, it mean being courteous, polite ,fair and just as well as resposible. No Man is an island. So everyone has his or her resposibility. In life or as a community or group, if a particular person fails in his/her duties someone else pays for it. In life inevitably, there will always be someone willing to shortchange others. This will also inevitably be found out and that will be a measure of their character. Not only that, they themselves will not benefit in the experience and hence be shouted at as the task is not done or that the time wasted in waiting for the task being done. Take for example, the organisation of tables and chairs before and after class. Some students come late or avoid doing this.We know who you are but observe and note.Your teachers ,peer group and also your future employers will be reviewing in the same manner. Result: less people doing this ,it takes longer time, some people get frustrated at the time it takes and some people feel resentment at others not helping. Is this a good way of showing that you belong to that group? Can you expect your collegues or peer group to accord you the respect and courtesy?? I wonder.I am sure you have friends or colleagues who fall into this category, right,or are you one of them. In future, your mothers or bosses will think that you are incapable of organising a few tables and chairs for a function. Why?? Because you do not have the experience of doing so.Then your mothers will shout at you( as you are of no help), your bosses will think that you are lazy and of no initiative.Remember what I say about the hospital example.About audit.Malaysia now has human resourses department and as sure as tomorrow comes they will be auditing the efficiency and efficacy of the various services. If not, how do you compare who is the most productive or most efficient at doing the job. Remember the championships that start late because only one person is doing the work and the rest are only capable of moaning. Why spent time in a negative way and moan.Be proactive and do something about it.Do not think- Somebody will do do it and in the end nobody does it because eveyone thinks someone else will do it. Do it and you will be the richer for the experience? What experience, you may say in moving chairs and tables?Well, have you heard of time and motion studies??Do you know what is the best or most efficient way of doing the work?Do you know how to organised the work force(your team)? Shall I go on?? Get the picture. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Posted in reply of Mr/Ms Unknown's question in forum) Hello there, Mr/Miss. Unkown, First of all can I say 'good on you'to find out about the bakat. Some of my black belts do not even bother and when they realised they have missed something, they then proclaim that 'they do not know when it was'.As I say in the seminar 'Ignorance is not bliss'.At least you are trying to be proactive. However, your first resource is your fellow bakat members. If they do not know then your instructor. Mr/Miss Unkown,it is always nice to know who you are, usually people who hide under anonmity are guilty of something and they do not want others to know their dubiousness. So it is no good for their self development. It also tells us that these people are irresponsible.Be resposible. As I say before you will only get better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all. Congratulations to all TTSC members for hosting the visit of grand master Park hae Man.It is an honour as well as a first for Malacca to have such an important part of living Taekwondo history to vist Malacca.I hope you all are able to benefit from the teachings of this very eminent grandmaster. Some students are still of the calibre of not appreciating the value of the wisdom of experienced grandmasters. They are the ones who will not benefit except maybe from phoney masters of no substances. How can you buy wisdom? Can you buy knowledge with intensive tuition?Knowledge and wisdom is by applying what you know with what you intend to achieve and learning from the errors as well as success on the way. Most true masters have gone on this path, so if you think you have discovered a new way ,look at the path below, you will find that it has been well trodden by those before you.Why learn the hard way when you have the guidance to show you the pitfalls and the success that you can achieve. Hindsight is always a good teacher but even some do not benefit from this. Why have hindsight when you can forge on with the foresight of those who has gone before you. Well done to the TTSC for another successful championship. I hope all of you had learnt a lot from it.Those who shy away from it will now only regret that they wish they had taken a more active part in it.As all of can witness, many hands make light work.A well done and a big thank you for your effort. You are more the richer in understanding that for competition of this scale and the effort that goes to organising it takes a lot of effort and it is indeed rewarding when you can see that it benefits everybody. The immense satisfaction would only be felt by you and in your heart of hearts, you know your effort however small make that bit of a difference to the whole. Another year another experience richer to move on to better things. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck to all the participants from Scotland and England in the forhtcoming championships.I hope you are adapting well to the weather. To all other participants -best wishes!!!I hope you enjoy the games and can give a good account of yourselves as well as glean from other players experience. Experience is applying yourselves to the task and learn from it.Succes or failure, you have at least learn from it.You will be better for it, at least you have tried.Far better than those who can postulate, comtemplate, and philosphies and do nothing about .At the end they still would not have the experience. This and any other championships should be grasp with both hands as a lot of effort has gone into organising, preparing, and seeing it through. Are you able to utilise this or is this another episode of I'll wait at the sidelines till I am ready.Remember time and tide waits for no man. For those who participate Pilsung!!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently visited your website and am indeed am proud of you guys and gals demonstrating a high standard of exhibition/demonstration skills.Well done!! However, you must now concentrate even harder to put these techniques in actual practice. You do not want to neglect the sparring aspect otherwise you will be left with 'Flowery fists and emboidery kicks'. As I said before most people do 'monkey see, monkey do 'martial art. They can just mimic the moves and then think by doing these moves they can defend themselves. They have no comprehension of speed and power. If someone punches at at 100 mph and you block at 50 mph, then it is likely you will be injured.Likewise if some has a 100 kilo punch and you just go through the motions then you are likely to be hurt. In sparring, you learn to see ,assess and react fast. You also learn to outhink, outsmart your opponent. It also make you think ahead(strategy etc). You also learn to capitalise on your opponents weakness and strength. You will then be confident to deal with any situations( including all the kerbaus and tiada otak)because you know you have the capability to deal with them. More important you learn about restraining your power and is in control of the situation or you will become like the brainless and end up in jail. Most important be youself and do not be afraid of learning and making mistakes.Everyone has fears but can they be mature and confident and go forth and explore themselves so that they can progress. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all congratulations to the TTSC for hosting their 10th Annual championship. For a competition of this magnitude, you have all done very well.I am immensely proud of all of you.Well done. Like all championships, there are always teething problems and as the championships get bigger, the bigger the problems. However, as each step we take we learn from it and become better. I would like to thank the parent committee for their sterling work on the day.Your presence add a degree of comfort and reassurance to all and is indeed appreciated. We all work as a team towards the benefit of all concern. To the officials, well done, you have a difficult and tireless job to do and you did well.Special thanks goes to Mr.Richard Tan and Mr.Han for their support and assistance.Special mention to Nurul Tiara Murni for her judicious and superb official work.I am sure there others who are of the same calibre but Nurul was in my court. The competitors did well in their various stages of development but the most important is that first step to compete. The event is over and you are better for it.You should also reflect on your experience and resolve to improve next time round. Of course, there are always 'individuals who talk a good fight but cannot fight' in the proverbial sense and that includes ,ofiicials and instructors.Whilst others are better for the experience, you are left with empty rhethoric. Finally, on behalf of all concern thanks to Datok Ang and Tan Sri Thamby Chik for their untiring support, Master T.L.Loh for leading and indeed shouldering the resposibility for the event and all assisting support assistance,in particular Kelvin. Well done and I hope you will glow in satisfaction of a job well done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Congratulations for your success in the recent martial arts championships. You know you will be successful with true instruction and good practice.People who play politics will only benefit short term.In true martial arts your training last forever but you have to stay on course and focus on the course.PILSUNG. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear TTSC members, It is competition time again.Yet again many parents are anxious about their children being injuresd and prohibit their children from sharing this wonderful experience. This is a natural response. We practise Traditional Taekwondo and it is our philosophy that our students are equally like our own flesh and blood, however that does not mean that we mollycoddle them and not expose them to the reality of life.
Basic level of Taekwondo practise is about posture, balance mental and physical focus, perserverance, memory etc.... Taekwondo competition sparring is about putting it into practice. It is a little like driving. The first stage is getting used to the controls then driving around the block or on a quiet road and then onto the busy road and finally into town. The getting used to the control and knowing how the car works is the basic Taekwondo class.Taekwondo competition is about driving into town.Yes, if you are slow or do not react at the right time, there will be an accident and injuries occur. So competition teaches 1)you how and when to use the right technique, 2)it teaches you to recognise the speed of an attack and the approriate respond and at the right speed, 3)it also teaches you about the distancing, range that you have to keep, 4) it teaches you to be calm and wait for the right moment to respond so that you will achieve the results that you want, 5)it teaches not to freeze or panic or act in bravado( macham kerbau)-no skill, no knowledge,no composure, 6)it teaches you to perservere, learn about tenacity, learn to withstand punishment and most of all to keep going(endurance and not perserverance as some of our more learned readers might think). The list is endless. So much like the (L) plate student, do you learn to drive into town and experience the joy and ease of this aspect of life or do you just stay at home.Parents are you going to be there all the time to protect them or are your children going to experience the trials and tribul -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fantastic website.Looks more professional and friendly.Best wishes for the forthcoming championships. All the best to all TTSC students. It is most important for all students to participate in competitions.it is a good avenue to test whether they are paying attention in class as well as their diligent practice. It also test their faith and belief in their capability.I know it is daunting but unless you test your skills ,you will never know your capability.Nobody has instant success and FAILURE IS THE MOTHER OF SUCCESS.Are you ready to face up to it. Good luck and best wishes to all students, parents and supporters. A big THANK YOU to all officials ,instructors, leaders and Master T.L.Loh AND HOPE YOU HAVE A SUCCESS COMPETITION. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
